The latest cut from East Midland’s singer-songwriter Charlotte Carpenter, ‘You’re My Reason Why’, is a bold, cinematic piece accompanied by a dystopian music video that tells a gay love story. “I love dystopian and post-apocalyptic art and experiencing a pandemic obviously brought a lot of end-of-the-world feelings to the forefront,” she explains. “Suddenly the art I once found a strange comfort in, struck a different feeling in me - I was fearful, it was a big wake-up call of how finite and fragile life actually is.” The track is a beautiful, haunting, melodic piece that acts as a ray of poppy, country-inspired light amongst the darker-edged tracks of her debut album.
